We aim to make every act and every movement an effective and consistent expression of the positive and non-violent philosophy of Aikido. By practicing regularly we are cultivating an effective alternative to being forced to choose between conflict and capitulation. This is the antithesis of victimhood. Life need not be a struggle,.. or a lost cause if you don't! This all sounds very serious, but the way we do Aikido makes it a lot of fun too! Positive-Mind. Understanding the mind/body mechanics of Aikido both gives our students a great start in the Aikido learning process, and expands the applicability of Aikido to daily life. Aikido is a discipline of thought and movement and our method gives clarity to it, making it a fantastic opportunity for personal development. Developing a full body of Ki is about becoming a positive creative force, being surrounded by a field of creative energy that neutralises any destructive intent that comes into it. We use the movement of Aikido to nurture and draw out this energy, to eliminate fear and release our true selves. Its not just a fluffy idea though, this means learning to do Aikido with the staggering power of gentleness that leaves no opening to an aggressor and eliminates the need for defensiveness. And that is inspiring to witness, let alone experience. It makes violence obsolete! Neutralising Violence and Negativity. For violence to occur there first has to be a separation; a focusing on the differences between people. Aikido offers the opportunity to discover how to bridge that gap in a real and practical sense while exercising the right to be safe. This connexion enables us to overcome violence without joining in with it. If you like people, you'll love Aikido! Aikido is renowned for the mystifying feats demonstrated by its exponents. In our approach, the way to develop such abilities is made clear. All you have to do is stick to it. That's not so hard when you're having that much fun! |
